Moussa Benhamadi, a Key Figure in Algeria’s Digital Transformation

Born in 1953 in Ras El Oued, Moussa Benhamadi was a computer engineer and Doctor of Applied Mathematics specializing in information systems and networks. A researcher and academic, he became a leading figure in the development of information technologies in Algeria. As Director General of CERIST (Research Center for Scientific and Technical Information) from 1986 to 2002, he played a major role in introducing the Internet to Algeria as early as 1993. He passed away from COVID-19 in 2020. In 2025, CERIST honored his memory by naming a major infrastructure after him.

Abderrahmane Benhamadi, a Pillar of Industrial Sovereignty

Abderrahmane Malek Benhamadi was born in 1957 in Ras El Oued. He graduated in Economics in the United Kingdom in 1984.
After returning to Algeria, he briefly taught at the University of Sétif before joining the family business in the 1980s. In 1997, he founded CONDOR ELECTRONICS, specializing in electronics, household appliances, and information technologies.
Under his industrial vision, CONDOR became a cornerstone of Algerian industry, offering a wide range of products including televisions, smartphones, household appliances, air conditioners, and more.
As CEO of CONDOR until 2019, he helped position the company among Africa’s leading businesses. He retired in 2021 but continues to serve in a strategic advisory capacity within the group.

Representing the third generation leading the BENHAMADI Group, Amir Benhamadi embodies a new era of transformation and modernization. A graduate of Boston University with a degree in Marketing, he developed a management approach centered on innovation, strategic performance, and international market expansion. After returning to Algeria, he gradually assumed increasing responsibilities within the family group, overseeing commercial development and operational management. This progression enabled him to gain deep knowledge of the group’s industrial activities while promoting modernization and cross-functional collaboration. In 2018, he became General Manager of BORDJ STEEL and, in 2019, was appointed Chairman of the Group, marking a structured generational transition. Under his leadership, the group has reorganized around specialized business units with a strong focus on digital transformation, industrial excellence, and export growth.
